Undersongs explores an abiding interest in the human psyche. Retaining both ambiguity and depth of feeling, it takes the form of an intimate dreamscape, echoing themes of lament and of longing. The camera is deployed as a tool by which the unconscious may be unlocked, giving voice to latent and often unsettling interior spaces. The depression of the shutter mimics a sharp intake of breath as memory and emotion are recognised and potentially frozen onto the photographic plate.
